Pakistan, China, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) COMSTECH have launched a joint laboratory in Zhejiang, China, to advance research and development in herbal medicine by integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine and Unani medicine. Announced during the 2026 International Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine–Unani Medicine Cooperation and SCO Member States Traditional Medicine Industry Exchange Forum, the initiative is a collaboration between Ningbo University and COMSTECH. The laboratory will conduct collaborative research, clinical and pre-clinical studies, support the international registration of traditional medicine products, and promote academic exchanges and researcher training. Staffed by a multidisciplinary team of 50 researchers, including 30 Chinese and 20 international experts, the facility aims to strengthen scientific innovation, talent development, and healthcare applications in traditional medicine across China, Pakistan, OIC member states, and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries.
